The Project Area is almost entirely developed with urban uses, including various configurations of residential development, commercial and office development, industrial development, various types of public development (schools, churches, parks, civic center, etc.), and transport / utility (roads, railroads, etc.). General Plan designations include Commercial, Commercial / Industrial, Light Industrial, Public / Insitutional Office / Professional, Low-Density Residential, Medium-Density Residential, High-Density Residential. Existing zoning reflects these General Plan designations.
Document Description
The project involves the adoption of Amendment No. 1 to the existing Redevelopment Plan for the Compton Redevelopment Project. This action will re-establish the Compton Redevelopment Agency's authority to commence eminent domain proceedings on properties within the Project Area for a 12-year term. Amendment No. 1 will not alter the boundaries of the Project Area. Although no development or construction is proposed at this time, the continued implementation of the Redevelopment Plan is expected to facilitate commercial, industrial / manufactuing public, and residential development in the Project Area in conformance with the Compton General Plan, to address various environmental issues, and to mitigate existing public infrastructure system deficiencies. The primary purpose of the Redevelopment Plan continues to be the elimination of physical and economic blighting conditions that hinder the full development of the Project Area.
