Document Description
This project examines soil profiles, ground water levels, and clay content at the Aubell office site on Elk Valley Road in Cresent City at Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. Preliminary information about subsurface conditions will help identify potential geotechnical issues for a proposed facility, plan for onsite waste water disposal, and update cost estimates for construction. The proposed maintenance facility will be subject to separate CEQA and NEPA review.

Project consists of minor alterations in the condition of vegetation that do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees; and basic data collection and resource evaluation activities, which will not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource and is included as "soils and structural engineering tests" and "percolation tests" in the Department of Parks and Recreation's list of exempt activities, in accordance with CCR 15300.4.
