Document Description
Stabilize an eroding section of the west bank of the Russian River approximately three miles upstream of Wohler Bridge near Healdsburg, Sonoma County. The project site has experienced recent and severe erosion, as have other reaches of the west bank in the same area. Rock rip-rap will be placed over an approximately 400-foot length of river bank. The rip-rap will consist of about 3,000 CY of 1/2 to 2 ton rock placed in a layer about 4 feet thick. The voids between the rock will be filled with river gravel and soil. Willow cuttings and other native riparian tree seedlings will be planted within the rip-rap to restore habitat and provide additional bank stabilization. The top-of-bank area will be seeded and protected against erosion. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2004-0311-3 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1602.
