Document Description
Create a 300-foot Defensible Fuel Profile Zone (DFPZ) along the east side of Highway 89 and along both sides of a short section along the Vikingsholm Service Road. Total area to be treated is approximately 24 acres. The DFPZ will include a more intensively treated shaded fuel break within 100 feet of structures. Project will reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire to State Park forest resources and adjacent private residences. Vegetation treatments will be designated to improve the forested views along the highway, and create a more fire defensible fuels complex. Treatment will be performed by hand crews and will include cutting of vegetation with chainsaws. Adjacent residents and landowners will be notified before work begins.
