Document Description
Caltrans proposes to remove portions of two debris barriers on the North Fork Navarro River adjacent to State Route 128 at post mile 8.91. It is intended to remove between four and eight large logs that provide the "foundation" of the barrier. The smaller debris would be removed by hand. Trash would be taken to a transfer facility. Large wooly debris would remain in the river for habitat and to reduce scour and erosion. The project is needed because State Route 128 is experiencing an increased frequency of flooding during non-flood stages of the Navarro River. This results in dangerous conditions for the traveling public, complete highway closure, increased maintenance costs and accelerated deterioration of the structural section of the roadway.
