Present Land Use
Orange County Water District (OCWD) was formed in 1933 by a special act of the California State Legislature to protect Orange County's rights to water in the Santa Ana River and to manage this important groundwater basin. Orange County's groundwater basin supplies water to more than 20 citied and water agencies, serving more than 2.2 million Orange County residents of various land use and zoning.
Document Description
The PEIR will provide a description of the District's existing storage and recharge facilities and address the potential impacts resulting from the implementation of projects identified in the LTFP plan, including: a) modificationor expansion of existing recharge facilities; b) development of new recharge facilities; c) water supply projects to divert, store and/or recharge additional surface water; d) projects or operational practices that would modify management of the groundwater basin; and e) projects that enhance water quality. The PEIR will also address potential impacts that would result from the proposed annexations of lands by the District within the IRWD and within the City of Anaheim.
The PEIR will assess the potential environmental effects of the proposed projects at a programmatic level in accordance with the conceptual level of project description information available. Thus, implementations of individual projects may require additional CEQA environmental review and documentation.
