Document Description
The U.S. Forest Service proposed action would authorize the following actions proposed by the Orange County Probation Department: (1) re-issuance of a Special Use Permit for 20 years, beginning January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2024, to allow the continued operation of the Los Pinos Conservation Camp by the Orange County Probation Department; (2) expansion of the Special Use Permit for the two-mile segment of Long Canyon Road, which extends from the Ortega Highway to the camp; (3) expansion of the Special Use Permit for the access road that extends from the camp to the sewage treatment ponds; (4) redefinition of the permit area to include the Los Pinos Conservation Camp (31.9 acres), access road to the existing sewage treatment ponds (1.333 acres), and the area encompassing the sewage treatment ponds (13.7 acres); (5) expansion of the existing Los Pinos Conservation Camp from its current capacity of 125 beds to a 157-bed facility, with the addition of 32 beds; and (6) undertake a series of improvements, including seismic retrofitting of the existing structures and facilities and other improvements that would bring current deficiencies into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, as stipulated by the U.S. Forest Service.
