- Phase 1 of RP 2004-16 would occur in the first year with the excavation of 152,000 tons from the San Benito River at a depth of five feet below the lowest point in the river 'thalweg' in a roughly 8.8 acre area. Reclamation of previously mined pits is proposed on the east side of the San Benito River (10 acres +/-). Phase 2 extraction is based on replenishment. Annual supplements are proposed to determine mining depth in Phase 2. There is not a proposed final elevation of the river or termination date.
