Document Description
The project involves the relocation of the Cuyamaca Forest Fire in San Diego County. The existing fire station within Cuyamaca Rancho State Park will be abandoned by CAL FIRE (and continue to be used by State Parks for another purpose) and a new fire station constructed a few miles further north. A Negative Declaration was prepared and a Notice of Determination was filed for the project in September 2, 2004. The project now includes a minor change to the construction of the new fire station. The change involves a slightly expanded graded area to lessen the risk for landslides, the removal of six additional oak trees originally planned to be retained on site, and possibly up to 2,500 cubic yards of soil removed where the ND assumed that earthmoving would be balanced on site. An addendum to the 2004 ND discussed the changes and CAL FIRE found based on substantial evidence in the record that changes to the project were minor and do not result in new potential impacts or the need for new mitigation measures.
