Document Description
The Satellite Utility Plant will be two buildings - a 5,000 gross square feet (gsf) chiller building, and a 4,300 emergency generator building. A future phase of the project may add 2,700 gsf to the chiller building. The generator facility will accomodate two 1500 KW emergency generators and adjacent to it will be two 20,000-gallon underground fuel oil tanks. The chiller building will house one 2,000-ton electrical centrifugal chiller and associated pumps.

Reasons for Exemption
The project has been designed to avoid noise impacts by incorporating sound attenuation features to reduce noise increase to no more than 3 dBa. Air emissions from the emergency generator portion of the project were evaluated as part of a campu-wide air study, and are below the threshold of significance of the local air district. The structures will house equipment and not be staffed. The project is located on a parking lot, interior to the campus.
