Document Description
Updates are proposed to the 2005 West L.A. College Facilities Master Plan (Master Plan). Compared to the 2005 Master Plan, the 2009 Master Plan would add an additional 92,653 square feet of building space. The 2009 Master Plan includes: a revised, large Physical Education structure (Allied Health and Wellness Building); new central plant; demolition of additional modular classrooms; relocation of media center (Watson Center); a revised, larger Technology Learning Center (TLC), smaller student services building, replacement of soccer with softball field, smaller reconfigured North Parking Structure (Lots 1 and 2), and internal street changes. Since 2005 on-line student attendance has increased, such that future year projections result in fewer students on campus (10,998 now anticipated in 2022 compared to 18,904 analyzed in the 2005 FEIR). In conjunction with the proposed changes to the Master Plan the Supplemental EIR revises mitigation measures to respond to recent construction practices and experiences as well as the effectiveness of mitigation to address specific, identified significant adverse environmental impacts.
