Document Description
This proposed project involves the construction of 18 new groundwater recharge basins, improvements and extension of the existing man-made earthen channel, and improvements to the existing, manmade recharge basins located north and east of Cone Camp Road, as described below. Project activities consist of the removal, repair, and construction of inter-recharge basin connections, construction of culverts, low water crossings, drop structures, diversion structures, energy dissipator structures, and dirt access roads. The Project will result in impacts to 3.5 acres of San Bernadino Kangaroo Rat (Dipodomys merriami parvus) habitat including temporary impacts to 1.4 acres; the Project will permanently remove 2.1 acres of San Bernadino Kangaroo Rat habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of San Bernadino Kangaroo Rat, which is/are designated as an endangered species under the California Endangered Species Act. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
