Document Description
Caltrans plans to conduct a seismic refraction survey within the project limits. Foot access will be required. A line of geophones will be placed along the ground surface parallel to the proposed cut hinge point. The geophones will be inserted into the ground with a small spike and a gat bar will be driven into the ground at either end of the line at varied spacing along the line. The gat bar will create a hole into which a metal pipe will be inserted and a shotgun shell detonated. After the completion of the survey, the site will be restored to its pre-survey condition (i.e., all material such as geophones and pipe will be removed and the holes back filled with soil).
