Document Description
The project is the development of a new Public Service Center at 450 Madison Street within the existing Civic Center complex in downtown Monterey. The project proposes construction of two, two-story building totaling 32,300 sq. ft. above ground with a single basement of 8,800 sq. ft. The average building height of the north building will be 27'6". The average height of the south building will be 27'1". To serve the new building, 48 parking spaces will be developed south of Madison Street in a Van Buren Extension lot. A short section of Dutra Street will be closed, to all but emergency and service traffic, for the creation of a plaza and to provide safer pedestrian access. The proposed project will result in the removal of 12 buildings, 11 trees and the temporary loss of 58 parking spaces during construction and 18 fewer spaces upon project completion.
