Document Description
CWMI was granted a 6-month extension to Permit Condition V.5 (A) that specifies June 16, 2004 for submittal of a closure certification report for Landfill B-16. This will avoid or minimize closure construction activities during the rainy season. No change in the method of closure or the approved closure plan is proposed. DTSC concurs that there will be less operational impacts and no new potential for environmental impacts from closure construction activities if they are postponed until after the rainy season.

Reasons for Exemption
As described above, the time delay is a minor modification to the existing facility operation. There is an approved closure plan in place. The permit modification only extends the closure Construction completion date by 6 months. Delaying te construction schedule until after the rainy season will not result in environmental impacts. There are currently no majoy operational problems or releases from the unit, so immediate closure action is not an urgent matter for environmental protection reasons.
