Document Description
The project consists of trail realignments at two sites along the New Almaden Trail, and a replacement and relocation of a degraded unsafe pedestrian bridge. Both sites are in Almaden Quicksilver County Park. Site A is a re-routing of an existing trail above and around a section of an area subject to land slides and where erosion has washed out a section of the existing rail. A temporary walkway has been constructed over the washed out section of trail. Site B is re-routing of an existing trail to reduce the grade of the current trail, which exceeds 20% at some points, and to replace an existing degraded pedestrian bridge. The current bridge location is approached by a steep section of trail (approximately 30% grade) which is eroded; the bridge tread and supports are degraded and unstable (see photo 1). This bridge will be replaced and moved downstream to a site with greater bank stability, and approached by the new, less steeply graded trail alignment.
