Document Description
Caltrans proposes to make safety improvements to four separate locations along the north coast of San Luis Obispo County of State Route 1, from 3.6 miles north of Piedras Blancas Lighthouse to 4.9 miles south of the Monterey County line. The proposal includes widening the highway shoulder at four locations that have been identified as having very narrow shoulders and steep side slopes. Shoulder widening requires extending the culverts at several locations, adding a culvert at another and constructing a retaining wall to avoid extending a culvert in an area containing a sensitive biological resource. Drainage improvements are part of the project.
