Document Description
The projects purpose is to repair a slope failure using a 3-tiered ground anchor system to stabilize the slide by drilling approximately 240 tiebacks 40 to 70 m into the failed cutslope using 3 parallel benches cut along the contours in the side area. Two rows of tieback on each of the three tiers will be drilled from each bench 20 degrees down angle below the horizontal. The tiebacks will extend into competent material beyond the failure plane and achieve there tensile strength from steel strands grounded into each tiseback hole. The ends of the stresses tiebacks will be "locked off" on a shot Crete waler(concrete block that anchors tieback rods into ground surface), which will be constructed along the full length of the bench. This project will benefit the people of California by maintaining the integrity of this Caltrans facility and reduce the need for future repairs. Actionably, the project repairs will protect the health and safety of the people of California and the visitors to the state.
