Document Description
The applicant is proposing to remediate the quarry face of the now defunct Scotts Valley Drive Quarry, thus allowing different uses on the property in the future. The proposed quarry reclamation includes a grading scheme that reduces the slope of the nearly vertical quarry wall by creating six terraces at 30 foot intervals up the slope with ten feet deep benches. The slope between benches would be graded at a ratio of 1.85 feet horizontal to 1 foot vertical (1.85:1). The average slope from top to bottom (including the benches) would be graded at a ratio of 2 feet horizontal to 1 foot vertical (2:1). The overall slope remediation area is approximately 355 feet from the bottom to the highest point on the cut slope, and rises to 170 feet.
