Document Description
Since the Final EIR was issued in 2010 for the Rio Del Oro Specific Plan Project, SMUD has evaluated the path of the 69kV electric lines and locations of the substations. Based on currently intended/proposed development, SMUD has refined the siting of the first two substations within the 1,100-acre Phase 1 area and associated 69kV lines/connections. The proposed substations would be located within the previously evaluated project area boundaries identified for the Rio Del Oro Specific Plan Project EIR. The path of the 69kV lines have been modified to include a northern off-site line extension that would include up to five utility poles. Anticipated energization date of the first substation have been identified for 2024, with construction beginning in the fourth quarter of 2023, and the estimated energization date of the second substation is 2028. No changes in powerline design, construction methods, and/or function are being proposed as part of this document.
