Document Description
The proposed project is a pilot study to estimate biodegradation rates, and to assess the effectiveness of the technology in improving the ground water quality at the Jamacha Landfill. Groundwater at the Jamacha Landfill contains chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOC). The reductive dechlorination sequence has been detected in groundwater samples at the side indicating that natural biodegradation is occurring, which is accelerated with the addition of both electron donors and bacteria. The proposed project will consist of injecting a slow release electron donor and bacteria (KB -1) into groundwater wells. The effects will be monitored approximately 30 & 100 feet downgradient. The effects of the bioaugmentation will be monitored by analyzing extracted samples.
