The City of Rio Dell (City), in Humboldt County, currently holds Water Right License No. 10464 (Application No. 23196) to appropriate underflow from the Eel River. The water is appropriated from wells located north of the city, at a maximum rate of 0.62 cubic feet per second (cfs). These wells are failing, and produce limited water with poor quality.During the recent drought the City was granted a temporary emergency permit to divert water from screened pumps in the Eel River just south of the City.
