Document Description
The Project would restore tidal hydrology to approximately 362 acres, as well as preserve and enhance approximately 546 acres of existing tidal marsh habitat on Chipps Island. Project activities include excavation of several existing drainage ditches, creation of new meandering channels, partial excavation of shallow “starter” channels, breaching of multiple exterior levees, and removal of several water control structures.
The Project will result in impacts to approximately 20 square feet of Mason’s lilaeopsis (Lilaeopsis masonii). The project is expected to result in incidental take of Mason’s lilaeopsis, which is designated as a rare species under the NPPA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under NPPA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
