Document Description
The purpose of this proposed project is to develop the 58-acre Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook for use as a recreational area, as well as a natural resource educational/interpretive park for visitors and local schools. The project has four primary elements: develop public access to the property; provide approximately 110 parking spaces for visitors; construct a 10,300 sq. ft. visitor center; and provide protection and interpretation of the natural and cultural resources of the park and the adjacent Ballona Creek. The project would restore the site's natural ridgelines and topography that were previously graded and would emphasize restoration of native coastal sage scrub habitat. Several public meetings and workshops have been held to solicit public input on the design of the proposed visitor center and site feature.
