Document Description
Caltrans proposes improvements to Highway 1 to restore highway reliability, decrease maintenance expenditures, and protect highway workers at Pitkins Curve and the northern chute of Rain Rocks along the Big Sur Coast in Monterey County, by building a bridge to span the landslide at Pitkins Curve and a rock shed to cover the highway at Rain Rocks. Both structures would allow the natural geologic processes to proceed while allowing traffic to travel the highway safely and dependably with minimal maintenance expenditures.
