Document Description
Metropolitan is required by the State of California Code of Regulations to protect its treated water supply systems from potential contamination through the implementation of a cross connection prevention program. A cross connection is an unprotected connection between a potable water line and any source containing unapproved water or substances that are not classified as safe, wholesome, and potable. Existing potential contamination sites include locations where the drinking water supply feeder lines that may be subject to infiltration by contaminants include: air release valves, air vacuum valves, blow-off structures, and air stacks. Through the Cross Connection Prevention Program, Metropolitan will modify/relocate to these types of equipment in order to prevent potential contamination of drinking water supplies.
