Document Description
Amendment No. 2 (a Major Amendment) includes changes to the ITP as originally issued and subsequently amended in Amendment 1 (collectively, ITP as amended). These changes include: (1) an additional 0.3 acres of permanent impact to potential Covered Species breeding habitat; (2) extending the deadline to complete permanent protection of the HM lands to 82 months from the effective date of the ITP; and (3) correcting the current CDFW contact's position listed in the ITP, as amended. The Madera Quarry includes development of a new 78-acre hardrock quarry that will mine 900,000 tons of aggregate annually for 40 years. The project will also include the alignment and widening of Road 209 and improvements to the Road 209/State Highway 41 intersection, as well as the permanent preservation and management of Habitat Management lands to offset the Project-related impacts. The Madera Quarry will result in impacts to 135.4 acres of California tiger salamander (CTS; Ambystoma
californiense) upland habitat and 0.3 acres of potential breeding habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of CTS, which is designated as a threatened species under the California Endangered Species Act. The ITP, as amended, referenced above, as issued by CDFW, authorizes incidental take of species listed under the California Endangered Species Act that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
