Document Description
This multi-phase project consists of design & construction of a 20 acre public park to be located near the intersection of Los Angeles Ave. & Schnaidt St. in the City of Shafter. The subject site will be acquired with city funds. Design & construction will be funded with federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Proposed improvements may include: playgrounds, restrooms; covered picnic areas; ball fields; lighting; grading; irrigation; landscaping; on-site parking; off-site street improvements including curb, gutter, sidewalk & other street work & other recreational facility improvements. The project is to be completed in 3-4 phases & has an estimated design/construction costs of $964,570. FY 2002-03 CDBG funds in the amount of $44,120 have been budgeted for Phase 1 which consists of design only (exemptions for NEPA & CEQA filed on 4/14/03). FY 2003-03 CDBG funds in the amount of $483,444 have been budgeted for Phase 2 which consists of construction of park improvements. Phase 3, expected to be funded with FY 2004-05 CDBG funds, consists of construction of park improvements & has an estimated cost of $218,503. If necessary to complete construction of park improvements, a 4th phase will be funded in FY 2005-06 with an estimated cost of $218,503.
