Document Description
The Santa Barbara Airport is proposing to implement a short-term field experiment in the Goleta Slough to assess the feasibility of a long-term restoration program. The proposed field experiment would involve creating 2 small tidal basins by excavating portions of larger non-tidal basins, & installing culverts that connect to tidal channels. Each experimental basin would be located adjacent to a "control basin" (i.e. and existing non-tidal basin) to allow a comaprison of the hydrologic & ecological effects of tidal circulation with existing conditions. This experimental design would also allow a comparison of bird use in tidal & non-tidal areas to assess the effects on the bird strike conditions at the airport.
