Document Description
The proposed project would involve trimming the overhanging vegetation along the exterior of the creek to provide clearance for a small tractor that is used to cultivate the land. No vegetation would be cleared within a five-foot wide zone between the cultivated field and the creek channel in order to leave a small buffer zone, and the vegetation would be trimmed to a height of not more than ten feet. A few small willows, no more than four feet in height, would be removed from shallow areas of the stream channel. Prior to removal, each willow proposed for removal would be marked and its removal approved by a Department biologist or other Department representative. Only hand tools would be used to trim branches, and removal of small windows within the creek would be done by hand. The project is needed to provide clearance along the creek channel for tractors and other cultivation equipment. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number R3-2001-0932 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1603.
