Document Description
At many locations along the Arroyo Seco, Carmel, Pajaro, and Salinas rivers, accumulations of excessive vegetation and/or large woody debris may result in backwatering and potential flooding during high flows. The Monterey County Department of Public Works (Operator) proposes to conduct routine maintenance activities that are subject to Fish and Game Code, Section 1601. Maintenance activities which both parties agree may be considered "routine" are defined in this 1601 Routine Maintenance Agreement (Agreement). These activities include clearing of debris from existing culverts, minor removal of vegetation, removal of debris that may block or retard water flow, bank stabilization and erosion control using bioengineering techniques,m and removal of hazardous man-made structures from channels for public safety and habitat improvements projects. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agremeent Number R3-2002-0981 pursuant to Fish and Game Code to Section 1601.
