Document Description
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) proposes to authorize the purchase of a demonstration-scale reverse osmosis system. A demonstration-scale reverse osmosis system would enable large-diameter (up to 17 inches in diameter and 60 inches long) reverse osmosis elements to be evaluated. Large-diameter reverse osmosis elements are one option to lower the cost of desalinating Colorado River water and other water sources. In order to fully evaluate the potential performance and economic advantage of these large-diameter reverse osmosis elements, a demonstration-scale system capable of testing these elements at 85 percent or greater water recovery is needed.
