The proposed project includes 1) excavations of trenches up to 300 feet long, up to 10 feet deep, and up to 20 feet wide (including temporary storage of excavated materials) in seven different locations in the vicinities of the existing North Haiwee Dam and NHD2; 2) the completion of 56 boreholes to obtain soil samples and subsurface profiles; 3) conversion of 17 of the 56 boreholes into wells (15 observation and 2 pumping wells) to determine hydraulic conductivity of sediment materials underlying the proposed project site.
