Document Description
The desalination facility would draw water from San Francisco Bay, utilize reverse osmosis to remove salt and other constituents from the water, and produce both finished water for domestic consumption as well as concentrated brine that would be discharged to San Francisco Bay after being blended with municipal wastewater in the outfall owned and operated by the Central Marin Sanitation Agency. The proposed project would be constructed initially with a 5 million gallon per day (MGD) capacity and could be expanded up to 15 MGD if demand warranted expansion. The proposed project would also include reconstruction of the Marin Rod and Gun Club Pier to anchor the water intake and pipeline, and construction of other in-system improvements including storage tanks, pipelines and pumps in various locations to accommodate the maximum 15 MGD facility.
