Document Description
The proposed project is Department of Water Resources approval of the permanent transfer of up to 5,000 acre-feet of State Water Project Table A water from Tulare Lake Basin Water Storage District to the County of Kings. Both TLBWSD and the County of Kings have long term contracts with DWR for agricultural water service deivery from the SWP. The transferred water will be provided by Angiola Water District and Bowman Farms, both of which are customers of TLBWSD. The water transfer is for the benefit of the Lemoore Naval Air Station and other agricultural water users in Kings County. DWR's long term SWP water supply contracts with both TLBWSD and the County of Kings will be amended in order to implement this project. The County, Westlands Water District and DWR will also enter into an agreement to change the point of delivery of the transferred water from the County's turnouts in Reach 8D of the California Aqueduct to Westlands Water Districts' turnouts, it will all be used within the County of Kings service area. The project evaluated in the Initial Study prepared by the County of Kings refers to transfer of 7,000 acre-feet of State Water Project annual Table A water, and subsequent to release of the Initial Study the amount has been reduced to 5,000 acre-feet.
