Document Description
This project proposes to realign Route 1 in Mendocino County about four miles south of Point Arena from post mile 10.7 to post mile 11.3 where the roadway is deteriorating due to substantial coastal erosion. The realigned section will consist of two twelve-foot lanes and two four-foot paved shoulders. Other project features include: vista turnouts, removal of the portion of bypassed roadway and temporary bridge, improved driveway access, culvert installation, revegetation of disturbed soils and implementation of a wetland mitigation plan within the realignment, the existing highway and at the Hearn Gulch Scenic Vista Overlook approximately one mile south of the project. The project is required to assure that the roadway will remain operational for a minimum design life of twenty years.
