The property has been designated surplus land by the State of California and Department of General Services must make the property available for sale, lease or exchange to other State agencies, and if no State agency is in need of the land, to local governmental agencies and private developers. The City of Santa Clara is currently negotiating with DGS for the acquisitions of approximately 6 acres for development of senior housing; the remaining acreage (approx. 11 acres) is being sold directly to a qualified private developer.
