Document Description
The proposed project for earthmoving activity associated with the development of a new +/-5 acre vineyard, including installation of erosion control measures on a 24.9 acres parcel on the west side of State Highway 128, across from Tubbs Lane approximately 2 miles northeast of the City of Calistoga. The parcel is located in an Agricultural Watershed (AW) zoning district, with a Napa County General Plan designation of Agricultural Watershed and Open Space. Slopes range from 2% to 30%, with an average slope of 20%. Water would be available from an existing on-site well. A less-than-three acre timber conversion exemption permit has been submitted to the California Department of Forestry for 2.98 acres of "timberland" as defined in the Z-Berg-Nejedly Forest Practice Act. The timberland that would be harvested consists of 100% second-growth Douglas-for trees ranging in size from 6-24 inches, diameter breast height. Erosion control plan #00262 has been prepared. The erosion control methods include silt fencing, straw bale dikes, straw mulch, permanent no-till cover crop and rock-lined diversion ditches. Total area proposed for vineyard project is +/-5 acres.
