Document Description
The project is the removal and replacement of an existing wooden bridge that crosses an unnamed tributary to the Napa River between the Joseph Phelps Vineyards River Ranch farming headquarters and the recently constructed River Ranch Farmworker Housing Center located west of Silverado Trail, approximately 0.4 miles north of Talpin Road in Napa County. The wooden bridge will be replaced with a new precast concrete bridge with concrete abutments placed beyond the top of bank of the existing stream channel. The existing bridge consists of stone abutments that were built into the original stream channel many years ago. As part of this project, these stone and concrete abutments will be completely removed from the watercourse to allow the channel to return to its natural form. The only work to be performed within the watercourse will be the removal of the exisitng bridge and abutments. Construction of the new bridge abutments and placement of the new bridge will be performed entirely outside of the stream channel. The construction of the proposed bridge replacement will begin in July, 2003 and take approximately one to two months to complete. All construction within the watercourse will take place when the stream is dry.
