Document Description
The project extends along Highway 101 in Sonoma County between Old Redwood Highway in Petaluma and the Rohnert Park Expressway in Rohnert Park, a distance of 10.3 km (6.4mi). The following improvements are proposed within the project limits. Widening in the median to provide high occupany vehicle (HOV) lanes in each direction; widening along the outside to provide auxiliary lanes a required to facilitate weaving traffice movements between the State Route (SR) 116-Gravenstein Highway and Rohnert Park /Expressway interchanges; shifting the alingment of a portion of Redwood Drive if analysist determines auxiliary lanes are needed; reconfiguration of the northbound SR 116 to Highway 101 entrance ramp to improve safety; modified ramp geometry at the Old Redwood Highway interchange; modified freeway on-ramps to accommodate future ramp metering and HOV preferential lanes; northbound climbing lane over the Cotati Grade to improve safety, improve operations and facilitate truck movements; modifications or Railroad Avenue to provide a full or partial interchange (optional component); and modifications of structures and use of retaining walls as necessary to accommodate highway improvements.
