Document Description
The project will remove a willow wall that is failing and place approximately 30 linear feet (20 cubic yards) of sackcrete bags over erosion control fabric along Reed Creek stream bank. Creek water has eroded the bank over time and a previous biotechnical attempt to stabilize the bank using a willow wall was unsuccessful. Willows will be replanted upstream in appropriate sunny locations with moist soil conditions. The sackrete wall will be approximately five (5) feet high and two (2) to three (3) feet deep. Rebar will be driven in at five (5) foot intervals. This repair is needed to stabilize the bank of the creek and prevent road failure. No harmful material will be introduced into the creek. A vactor hose will be used to pump out the water used to cure the concrete bags. This water will be disposed of at the City Yard wash rack that is pumped out monthly by a contractor. The work area will be isolated using sand bags and silt fences. Small numbers of steelhead trout migrate upstream to spawn. This area is in within the migration corridor for steelhead, however the work will take place in the summer when the creek is dry. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2003-0177-3 pursuant to fish and Game Code Section 1601.
