Document Description
The Department of General Services will enter into a long-term ground lease with the California Department of Transportation for the purpose of securing the land needed to construct and operate a surface parking lot for state employees housed in the Capitol Area. The lot will contain approximately 350 spaces, including spaces for compact and disabled access vehicles. The purpose of this lot is to provide off-site parking for the East End Office Complex and other state offices; this lot will assure the project meets the parking standards adopted in the 1997 Capitol Area Plan. The site of the parking lot is generally vacant airspace land under the freeway, which has been used most recently for construction staging by Pacific Gas and Electric; a small portion of the site is also in use as a parking lot. There are existing driveways on 18th and 19th Streets, and the perimeter has established landscaping and security fencing.
