Sequoia Park Zoo Improvements

The proposed project is the phased implementation of portions of the "Sequoia Park & Zoo Master Plan." The Master Plan was prepared in 1993 to provide a vision of the future of the Sequoia Park and Zoo with the goal of completing improvements in phases over the succeeding twenty years. The improvements proposed in the current phase of implementation include the demolition and site preparation for the construction of a new approximately 7,900 square foot Zoo Pavilion Building at the "W" Street entrance to the Zoo that will include an approximately 1,500 square foot interpretive center, an approximately 1,500 square foot multi-purpose room an approximately 1,500 square foot gift shop/cafe (and kitchen), and various zoo keepers facilities (offices, kitchen, and miscellaneous support spaces); construction of new, or relocation and/or upgrading of existing zoo supper facilities, including a new approximately 5,300 square foot adaptation center, an upgraded and relocated approximately 800 square foot veterinary center, upgraded and relocated approximately 2,400 square foot feed barn and zookeeper support area, and various upgrades to zoo keeper offices; construction of new, or relocation and/or upgrading of existing animal exhibits, including the relocation and upgrade of the prairie dog exhibit, a new hawk exhibit, remodeling of the small animal building, and upgrading out of the otter exhibit; a new memorial garden; ADA accessibility improvements; and other zoo enhancements.
