Document Description
Upon approval of the proposed removal action, the Army Reserve will remove the concrete pad, oil water separator, and surrounding contaminated soil, totaling approximately 1,360 cubic yards. Confirmation soil samples will be collected and compared to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region 9's residential preliminary remediation goals. The Army Reserve will prepare a risk assessment to establish the final cleanup goals after completion of soil removal and groundwater investigation. The excavation is estimated to be 70 feet by 75 feet by 7 feet deep. The impacted concrete, debris, and soil will be transported to an appropriate hazardous waste treatment and disposal facility, depending on waste classification. The excavation will be backfilled with clean soil. The removal action is projected to cost approximately $100,000.
