Document Description
Project will remove and maintain vegetation and debris within approximately 3.5 miles of the flood control channel within the Santa Ana River (Reaches 1 and 2). Maintenance includes excavation of sediment (to maintain design grade of the flood channel) with beach or near-shore disposal of suitable material at a frequency of approximately every 18 years. The actual frequency will vary depending on storm events and other factors that affect sediment deposition. Annual or routine maintenance includes temporary maintenance access, vegetation control (mower/dozer), inspections, and repair. Only native herbaceous wetland habitat (i.e., cattails and sedges) would be allowed to grow between annual maintenance periods.
