Document Description
Over the past year, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's Robert B. Diemer Filtration Plant (Diemer Plant) has been treating a higher percentage of State Water Project (SWP) and less Colorado River water than in the past. This has resulted in higher ferric chloride dosages to remove higher concentrations of dissolved organic to comply with the Stage 1 Microbial/Disinfection By-Products Rule. Treatment of SWP water to remove the dissolved organics generates a greater volume of residual solids maters (or sludge) than treatment of Colorado River water.
