One female and four male steelhead are collected from each watercourse and spawned separately at the Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout (MBSTP) facility in Santa Cruz County. Between 65 and 130 teachers from local schools receive 30 fertile eggs, as well as rearing tanks and direction from the Department and MBSTP.
