Document Description
An interconnection with WMWD-Main System to deliver treated Metropolitan Water District (MWD) water to the Arlington Desalter distribution system. The newly built La Sierra Pipeline, whose original purpose was to bring Arlington Desalter water into \/\/MWD Main System, has been configured to reverse flow through the La Sierra Pipeline bringing water from the WMWD Main System's Mills Gravity Line (MGL) into the Arlington Desalter distribution pipeline. A Cla-Val has been installed at the Sterling Pump Station that reduces the pressure of MGL water at a flow rate of 2,500 - 7,500 gpm. MGL water is chloraminated, and thus will undergo break point chlorination to convert to free chlorine to be compatible with the other sources in the Arlington distribution system. A 3,000-gallon liquid sodium hypochlorite (12.5%) tank will be used to supply the breakpoint disinfection.
