Document Description
The property contained orchards from the 1930s to the 1960s. Pesticides, including both inorganic (i.e. lead arsenate) and chlorinated organic pesticides (i.e., DDT) were applied in the orchard area. Arsenic, lead, and organochlorine-based compounds were detected in surface soil samples and may pose an unacceptable health risk for future residents. Approximately 1.3 acres of the impacted soil will be designed as a wetland preservation easement. The impacted soil in the remaining 3.7 acres will be excavated and either transported off-site and placed in an on-site containment cell.
