Document Description
This project is the approval of a Removal Action Workplan (RAW) by the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), prepared by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) in accordance with Health and Safety Code, Section 25356.1(h)(1). Activities proposed in the RAW include: * Installation of a methane mitigation system as part of the school construction activities; * Detailed inspection, photo-documentation, and written approval of the gas mitigation improvements; * Implementation of an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Plan; * Using a front-end loader to excavate approximately 225 cubic yards of soil impacted with PCBs and petroleum hydrocarbons; * Loading the excavated soil onto a truck for off-site transport of the soil to an approved disposal facility; * Confirmation sampling of soils collected from the sidewalls and bottom of the excavation area for analyses by EPA Methods 8270C with a 24-hour rapid turnaround time; and * Backfill and restoration of the excavation areas.
